Tweeting with The San Diego Padres @Padres

August 2, 2011 3

This post is dedicated to my favorite baseball team in the whole world, my San Diego Padres! Truth behold, the weather is always fair in San Diego so growing up here the Padres  have been and always will be my favorite baseball team. Although I can’t make it to all the games, I cheer for them in spirit and believe in them in my heart.

I enjoyed a fun afternoon with friends at the Padres vs Giants game Saturday July 16th. I have a tendency to tweet about things that are near and dear to me. During this game my Padres tweets showcased my fan loyalty and excitement for enjoying a beautiful day at Petco Park.

To my surprise, the President and COO of the San Diego, Padres Baseball Club Tom Garfinkel personally replied to one of my tweets.

I made my way over to the main concourse as he requested and left the game with tickets to tomorrow’s game: First Base VIP Box Seats. Row 1, Seats 1 & 2. Parking pass included! Here’s my game experience in photos.

I enjoyed the best up close and personal view of all the action on the field.

In game service brought me drinks and food to enjoy at each inning including sushi, pizza, shrimp cocktail and other treats.

Of course they even had chocolate covered strawberries to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Social Media Lesson: You didn’t think I’d let you off the hook with this post without any social commentary did you? All I have to say is be authentic when you tweet! My passion of being a true Padres fan scored me amazing seats to see my favorite team but that’s just one benefit. People want to connect with other people so allowing your true self to shine through behind your tweets will go a long way. Being honest and authentic on Social Media has created so many opportunities for me and I’m confident it will for you too.

To end this post, I just want to say thanks to the San Diego Padres and Twitter for making it possible for me to experience my favorite team with an amazing VIP experience. I was truly honored and grateful for this opportunity. I commend Garfinkel and the Padres for using Social Media to show their fan appreciation and look forward to many more wins at Petco Park.

  2. Way cool story! It is awesome when brands pay attention to social media, and posts and loyalty like this are the rewards!

    • Yeah I was so surprised and also grateful when I saw that the Padres actually read my tweets and wanted to thank me for being a fan. A major win and as a Padres fan we need any win 🙂
