What to do when you spend your day in paradise @TerraneaResort #Terranea

June 30, 2012 7

Happy Social Media Day everyone! I’m so lucky to be spending today in paradise at Terranea Resort. How appropriate that this entire trip is made possible by Social Media?! I want to give you guys a run down of what I’ve been up to today since I checked in yesterday, as well as share with you amazing sights, activities and experiences  you can take advantage of during your stay here. I woke up quite early this morning because I wanted to get a fresh start. And plus, it’s not too difficult to wake up when this is your view….

Terranea Resort has a fitness center that’s open to all hotel guests. The fitness center offers several classes each day that are also open to guests. Every time travel, I like to take a yoga class to balance out all the hectic energy that builds up with being transient. Lucky for me, there is an abundance of yoga and I never have a problem finding a class. If I could find a yoga class at SXSW with a robot, I knew I’d find one at a luxury resort here at Terranea. And sure enough, I did. I began my morning with a peaceful yoga class overlooking the ocean.

Waking up early and yoga both make me pretty hungry. Lucky for me, there is a plethora of dining options at the resort. Last night I already enjoyed a late night dinner and a giant pretzel at Nelson’s and a variety of flavorful dishes from Terranea Resort’s Asian restaurant, Bashi. Today I decided to try Catalina Kitchen. I took a peek at the brunch buffet before asking for a table. I saw how much fresh food they had and knew this place was a great choice! I stocked up on fresh, delicious fruit! Hey, who says buffets can’t be healthy? In addition to the buffet, they offer light afternoon meals with flatbreads, salads, appetizzers and cocktails. Then they offer a California Market/Mediterranean cuisine for dinner.

Vacationing at a resort isn’t complete with out some poolside time!  PRO TIP- Terranea Resort has a hidden “Adult” pool that’s a level below their main pool called Cielo Point Pool. You’re probably wondering “what’s an “adult” pool?”. Get your mind out of the gutter! It just means that only adults 18 & up are allowed. No screaming toddlers, no kids splashing you with their cannon balls  and best of all, you get an ocean side view while relaxing pool side. They also have comfy day beds, cabanas and a full wait staff for your eating and drinking pleasure. Just make sure you’re ready for music and fun before coming here.

After lounging around pool side, I decided a little retail therapy may be in order at Marea. Marea is located at Terranea Resort is a designer boutique featuring ready to wear clothing, unique jewelry, accessories, shoes and even a kids section. Marea was hosting a trunk show today so they greeted me with champagne. I even ran into @Mayhemstudios while shopping!

Right next to Marea is Sea Beans. Sea Beans is Terranea’s gourmet cafe. They’ll keep you energized with a latte and freshly baked chocolate croissants. They’ll also keep you refreshed on a sunny day with their homemade gelato. I enjoyed the strawberry rhubarb flavor, but they all looked tasty. While I was waiting for my Gelato, I couldn’t help but notice a snack zone with gourmet, allergy friendly snacks. I couldn’t believe the selection of gluten free, wheat free, dairy free and soy free products they offered. I couldn’t resist and picked up several snacks and I cannot believe how incredibly tasty everything was! My favorite is the coconut chips. I’ll probably pick up a few snacks before heading back home tomorrow.

My Sea Beans snack break was just what I needed before going on the Terranea Real Estate tour. I learned that owning real estate at Terranea is an entirely different experience. Homeowners get to enjoy their property for 60-90 days a year. They are surrounded in unending luxury by the sea right at home sweet home, with all the amenities of a world-class resort. I toured a few different Casitas and was very impressed with how spacious the homes all are.

After the real estate tour, I decided to continue walking to see what else I could discover at Terranea.  There’s no better place to do this than at the Discovery Trail. I love going on walks and hikes because there are so many things from mother nature to appreciate. The Discovery Trail is filled with indigenous plants and wildlife. I  saw a flock of fierce birds fly right by me during my walk.

There was one more thing I wanted to check out before a hair appointment I booked at 4:30pm. I’m still a kid at heart so I headed over to the Tide Pool Kids Club. They offer camps, lawn games, family fun and movie nights. I decided to try my luck with some Bocce Ball. I actually played in a Bocce Ball tournament in elementary school so I decided that today was the day I would regain my Bocce Ball championship title. I met Scott on the Terranea staff who challenged me to a Bocce Ball game and I accepted. I somehow ended up in a yoga pose after my first turn, but I ended up dominating the game and beating Scott. He graciously accepted the defeat.

After Bocce Ball, I had just enough time to make it to the Spa at Terranea for a hair appointment I booked earlier. I wanted to experience their salon and spa, so I got a nice trim. Right after, I relaxed in their steam room, hot tub and put my feet up again in their private spa deck. The spa amenities are available to all guests who book a treatment. For guests who don’t book a treatment, a day pass can be purchased for $40. This includes a locker, spa robe, sandals and access to the Spa Pool, steam, sauna, whirlpools as well as the indoor and outdoor relaxation lounges and fire pits.

After a full day at Terranea Resort, I’ve built up quite an appetite. To complete my weekend getaway experience, I knew that room service was calling my name! I called In Room Dining and they immediately shared their special of the day which sounded exactly like what I had in mind. 30 minutes later, food was delivered to my room. I’m now enjoying dinner while reflecting and sharing my day with you all.

This weekend isn’t even over yet but from the bottom of my heart,  I would absolutely recommend Terranea Resort to anyone who wants a luxurious getaway. This is the perfect staycation for LA locals and Southern California residents who want to escape the busy city without having to drive far. But not only is it perfect for locals, it’s a world class resort that anyone visiting Southern California from all over the world will appreciate. If anyone has any questions about any of the activities in this post, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m happy to share my experience in more detail and give you even more reasons to stay here. I’ll end this post for now as I finish up my dinner but I have one more Terranea post in the works. Stay tuned!

  1. I was curious if these types of posts are supposed to have a disclosure? I get Klout Perks often and not sure if I should disclose or not? Looks like an amazing weekend!

    • Thanks for reading Xenia! Yes it was an amazing weekend. I was not required to write a post for this perk so I did not include an official disclosure. I do state in the post that the trip was sponsored by Klout but I know the most perks even come with a note saying that you’re not required to write/post about it. I wrote about it because I really did have an amazing experience that I wanted to share.

      • I’m still confused on the FTC rules… I always assumed that when you receive something and blog about it, you have to disclose – does it always have to be at the bottom or it can be in the content of the post? I did notice in your other post you did say it was sponsored by Klout 🙂 Thanks for your time and answers!

        • I guess I need to read up on the official FTC rules myself! I thought if you’re receiving something free in exchange for blogging then you have to officially disclose. Since this wasn’t the case with me I just mentioned it in the post.

          • I’m not a fan of disclosing but I do it to cover my butt. I know why it’s done though, some people just game the system lol Thanks for keeping the door open and GOOD LUCK on the brand ambassador position!
